Becky Is Out Of The Water!

It has been a full month since my last post and so I thought it was about time to update the blog. Our boat finally came out of the water this past week and is now in the shop at the marina ready for her complete makeover.

We have decided to put off installing bow thrusters for this year and are instead going ahead with the body work. Kind of reminds of me SNL in the 80’s …

Donald and I spent a few Saturdays in Wiarton getting her ready for the winter. For this year I had the marina do the winterizing so we could concentrate of continuing our work.

In the shop I wrapped the panels that will be covering the dash area. The fabric we chose is by Sunbrella and is dark so that it won’t reflect light into the windshield.

When we went to the boat we fit them in place to see how they worked out. They worked out very well.

Since the helm still has to be finished we didn’t glue them in place. This will be done in the spring. For now we are storing them on board. We also fitted the panels that will finish off the helm and then dropped them off at a local upholsterer.

The rest of the time we cleaned out the cockpit entirely and brought back the seats to store in our shop for this winter. We didn’t want them to be in the way while the marina was working on the boat.

Basically we stripped her down…

I was also able to finish removing all of the electronics from the helm and now have a detailed drawing for when I put them back in the spring. I have convinced myself that it won’t take long to do.

I came up with my own method of labeling the wires. I will let you know how it goes in April.

For now she is safely out of the water. I will be getting progress photos from the marina and will be updating the blog when I do get them.

We found out that she was a bit too long for her to fit in their shop so they had to remove the swim platform.

There is also a very good chance that I might take a quick trip to see her in the near future. What can I say? I miss her.

Until then stay safe and stay healthy!
